For a very long time, I’ve wanted to collaborate closely with a dog shelter, and help promote #adoptdontshop – a cause which I’m extremely passionate about. Being a fur-mama to three adopted pooches, it’s a cause close to my heart, and I’ve seen first hand the difference that one person can make in a dogs life.
Update: Mya has been adopted!
I wanted to work with a no-kill, not for profit, self funded and established rescue – and Blue Cross Animals Society in Wonga Park ticked all of those boxes.
Plus, they are in love with animals.
I’ve been to lots of shelters before, and I’ve never seen one so clean, where the dogs are so loved, looked after, clean and well fed. The shelter is run by a dedicated team of staff and helped out by volunteers, and I spent time with Jen, Tanya, and a few of their fantastic staff members.
And then, I met Mya.
She’s big, goofy, smart, cuddly, and just wants to be someone’s fur-ever. She’s a Doberman x Malamute, and has these stunning markings, an expressive face, and the shiniest coat!
And she’s so smart! Watch this video to see her do an agility course, and to see her in action:
